About the Event
Do you have clients, patients, or partners dealing with conflict? We're guessing you know people who: feel like their conflicts just wear them down without leading to better outcomes; get stuck having the same fight over and over again; or, walk away from disagreements feeling discouraged and dismissed.
This course will help you add the following repertoire to your practice, no matter how you're engaged in helping people in conflict. We will give you practical tools to be able to help your clients:
- Normalize conflict in their everyday life and learn to recognize common sources of conflict;
- Identify the communication style they bring to conflict and determine how it is and is not serving them;
- Build new skills and obtain practical tools to help them engage in conflict in more personally fulfilling ways;
- Separate their approach to a conflict from its outcome when assessing their integrity (because it takes two to reach resolution!); and,
- Establish and maintain boundaries when others pursue and practice conflict in abusive ways.
Erin Hansbrough's educational and professional background comprises two seemingly distinct worlds: she has a Masters degree in Community and Regional Planning; and, she has spent the last two decades teaching therapeutic yoga and strength training, as well as training yoga teachers.
Her work as a relationship and communication coach is a natural evolution of these two worlds. Erin combines her passion for dispute resolution and community building with her considerable skill set in somatic work, offering holistic coaching that addresses multiple facets of the human experience.
As a queer and polyamorous person, Erin is dedicated to supporting people who may face bias, misunderstanding, discrimination or the simple lack of a model in building the relationships that nourish them. Her work is not limited to these communities, however; the gifts of collaborative communication are valuable to everyone!
Mike Donovan is an experienced business and non-profit manager. He has a Masters degree in Public Administration and a background in human resources, grants management, and conflict resolution. Mike is also a certified mediator in New Mexico.
Driven by the belief that communicating needs will illuminate mutual interest, he takes pride in providing kind and creative resolution facilitation. His goals as a mediator include helping clients find their guiding principles and discovering overlapping benefit within previously deadlocked disputes. Mike also offers coaching services and teaches coursework on collaborative communication.
As a polyamorous man, Mike feels especially grateful for the chance to help other men deconstruct traditional masculinity and find compassion and vulnerability in their relationships. He also feels privileged to engage with thoughtful people of all orientations and relationship structures!
