About the Event
Course Description
Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) is an evidence-based program to assist families that are challenged by the substance use issues of a loved one. It uses an overall positive approach and steers clear of confrontation. CRAFT emphasizes how to work with families to teach new skills to cope with old problems. Some of the components include how to stay safe, understand the function of substance use disorders, and teach caregivers how to use positive reinforcers (rewards) and how to let a loved one who experiences issues with substance use suffer the natural consequences for their using behavior.
At the conclusion of this workshop participants will be able to:
Demonstrate the use of a Functional Analysis of Loved One’s Substance Use
Explain how positive reinforcement can guide a loved one towards reductions or the elimination of addictive and compulsive behaviors.
