Culturally Informed Brief Motivational Interventions for Hispanic Communities
In this 2-hour interactive talk, you will be introduced to a process to develop three culturally-informed intervention tools, based on three common tasks to evoke personal motivation in Motivational Interviewing conversations. In this talk, you will also have opportunities to observe and practice how to incorporate these tools into a common Brief Motivational Intervention structure, with the purpose of offering more culturally sensitive interventions for clients with different cultural backgrounds, particularly in Hispanic communities.
Patricia Juarez joined the Latino Alcohol and Health Disparities Research and Training Center (LAHDR)at the University of Texas at El Paso on January 2015 as Training Director, providing trainings and supervision in evidence-based interventions, primarily Motivational Interviewing, Brief Motivational Interventions.
