About the Event
In this course we will focus on the interaction of child development and psychopathology in children, specifically how development can impact mental disorders and treatment of psychiatric conditions in children. The training will review ages and stages of typical child development from birth to adulthood and then delve into psychopathology in childhood with an emphasis on assessment and diagnosis using criteria from the DSM-5.
Dr. Jennifer Schneider, PhD, PMHNP-BC, is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at the UNM Children’s Psychiatric Center and formerly worked for a residential treatment center for children and in an early intervention program. Dr. Schneider has taught psychiatric nursing and mental health counseling courses to graduate and undergraduate students.
