Harm Reduction Psychotherapy [HRPT]: A Holistic Journey in Radical Love
$60 per person / 4 CEs. HRPT dares us to see clients as unbroken and undiseased; clinicians as knowledgeable and biased; and both clients & clinicians as needing to undo much of what we’ve learned about addiction, people who use drugs (PWUD), and their treatment.

About the Event
Enveloping both the clinician and the client in radical love, HRPT is a way of being with clients in wellness and positive conversation. It is a practice in pragmatism and creativity, a partnership between all parties creating possibilities for positive change. Finally, HRPT says, “meet people where they’re at…and don’t leave them there.”
In this workshop, we will explore the concepts of HRPT which blends the views of social justice with self-determination theory, and humanism integrated with holistic health. HRPT is a comprehensive view of a client which focuses more on their abilities than their needs. We will also explore the 4 Tent Pegs of HRPT: Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change Theory (TTM), Drug/Set/Setting, and Self Determination Theory. At the same time, we will confront our own uncomfortableness around risky behaviors – especially drug use – which can undermine our well-meaning work with clients.
