Using a tell-show-try model, we will review MI skills and concepts, demontrate the use of the skill in motivational interviewing practice and then provide opportunities for direct practice and feedback. We will spend the first half of our time on relational components of MI (the MI spirit, accurate empathy, and OARS) and the second half on technical components of MI (cultivating change talk and softening sustain talk).
