About the Event
This training will offer skills to work effectively and compassionately with justice involved individuals (formerly incarcerated and/or on probation and parole). Participants will learn how to apply harm reduction, trauma informed care, and social justice principles in serving this population.
Sheila Ciminera, LCSW is a social worker and owner of To Bear Witness Therapy. Over the past 15 years, she has had the privilege of being a harm reduction service provider, a case manager, program developer, individual and group therapist, clinical supervisor, acudetox specialist, and trainer. Her primary focus is supporting helping professionals with compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma. She also specializes in working with individuals dealing with trauma, addictions, and justice involvement (particularly formerly incarcerated members of our community). She is contingent faculty at New Mexico Highlands University’s School of Social Work.
