This training will define trauma informed care principles and interventions. We will explore the effect of trauma on the body and brain, learn how to establish physical and emotional safety, and develop compassion fatigue care plans for ourselves. Participants will learn how to apply this approach to a variety of client populations.

Sheila Ciminera, LCSW is a social worker and owner of To Bear Witness Therapy.  Over the past 15 years, she has had the privilege of being a harm reduction service provider, a case manager, program developer, individual and group therapist, clinical supervisor, acudetox specialist, professor, and trainer. Her primary focus is supporting helping professionals with compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma. She also specializes in working with individuals dealing with trauma, addictions, and justice involvement (particularly formerly incarcerated members of our community).
